Thom Matthiessen, born in 1966, was the head of the legal department and the managing director of the German companies belonging to an American group active in the ICT sector, and was in charge of all legal matters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH region). Among his reponsibilities were providing legal services and marketing organization, the R&D department in this region, as well as organizing Sourcing in the EMEA. In this capacity, Mr. Matthiessen has repeatedly dealt with the introduction of industrial standards in the company, as well as product safety and product conformity activities. Apart from the above, Mr. Matthiessen also supervised the German patent and brand portfolio.
After completing his commercial training, Mr. Matthiessen first worked in retail and went on to study Law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. After obtaining his attorney license in 1998, he joined one of the leading litigation law firms in the USA and then worked for a renowned corporate law firm before joining us as an in-house counsel before 2001.
